Tribeca Yeniköy

The other day, I realized with amazement that I hadn’t written about Yeniköy Tribeca, despite them declaring me as their spiritual child and almost putting a mattress in a corner for me to sleep on. To tell the truth, even though we’ve been going there for about 10 years, every time I mention its name, a multitude of embarrassing memories come flooding back to me like a film strip. Despite this, even if nothing else, I should have written about it in appreciation of their tolerance for all our teenage antics (at least the majority of them) since we’ve grown up and still love them.

On the other hand, I go there so casually every time that I wouldn’t even think of taking a camera, and I would almost not take off my pajamas. So, apart from the chicken schnitzel photo at the top, I can’t offer any proof of the beauty of their dishes. You will have to trust my words from now on.

As for their menus, I can recite them like a kebab restaurant waiter. If you’ve had a heavy (and satisfying) breakfast, for 16 TL you can close your eyes happily after having their fried ham and sausages, sautéed potatoes, fried eggs, pancakes, honey, and caramel sauce breakfast. If you’re younger and don’t want to load 10 years’ worth of calories in an hour and go into a food coma, their bagels are very famous. Some people love them, but I’m not too keen.

If you’re health-conscious, they have nice options in their “de-lite” menu. My recommendation is the chicken chargrilled vegetables (21 TL), which comes with zucchini, mushrooms, colorful peppers, carrots, eggplant, and yogurt sauce with grilled chicken. We used to eat it a lot with the shrimp artichoke salad (21 TL) in the summer. As winter approaches, I switch to my other favorite, chicken leg with wheat risotto (22 TL).

Apart from these, they have a large garden, usually quiet and peaceful, and a menu that’s like an encyclopedia of pizzas, pastas, noodles, wraps, and burgers, which we usually order while laughing at who knows what silly thing or if modern mothers don’t have a weekly meeting. If I live long enough, my goal is to try everything on their menu.

My only complaint: the wireless doesn’t work in the garden, dear Tribeca managers! If you could replace it with an outdoor modem, there would be no obstacle for me to make it my residence. Respectfully submitted.
